Iran denies sheltering Laden - China View

Iran distances themselves from Osama Bin Laden.

Iran has denied reports that it is sheltering Osama bin Laden, leader of the terrorist Al-Qaida group.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi was quoted as saying that "American papers always manage to come up with such juicy news when an important event such as the presidential election is near."

Asefi stressed that neither Bin Laden nor any other extremist from Al-Qaida is in Iran. However, he acknowledged that a number of low-rank al-Qaida operatives were in Iranian prisons. more
