Bush Warns Iran After Uranium Processing Reports - Reuters

President Bush had a few words for Iran today.
"This is a very serious matter. The world knows it's a serious matter and we're working together to solve this matter,"

"It's very important for the Iranian government to hear that we are concerned about their desires," Bush said.

"We're concerned about reports that show that prior to a certain international meeting, they're willing to speed up processing of materials that could lead to a nuclear weapon." more

To Destroy Iran’s Nuclear Bomb Program, 350 Targets Must Be Hit - Debka

Another war game scenario.
The first stage would be a bombing mission against the regime’s primary prop, the Revolutionary Guards.

The second stage would be the destruction of known and probable nuclear sites – a much harder mission given the hundreds of sites known and unknown number and carefully camouflaged underground behind cunning window-dressing. US intelligence estimates as many as 350 sites. It does not have precise knowledge of which are the most important or even which are active.

Regime change in stage three would entail ground action. more

Media Coverage of Iran: their bias is showing, again - DoctorZin

The same media that in the past told us "Iran is a greater threat than Iraq," now appear to be obscuring the latest news developments on Iran. Case in point, the Washington Post.

Yesterday, they published a story, Powell Says Iran Is Pursuing Bomb.

But that was not the "real news." Powell was exposing Iran's effort to
develop missiles designed specifically to deliver a nuclear weapon.

Anyone interested in Iran already knew that Iran was being accused of
having a nuclear weapons program, but the Washington Post chose to bury
the real story. This is why we can't trust the main stream media to
provide us with the news. Their bias is showing, again.

John Loftus on Powell's Expose of Iran - Fox News

Here are a few of John's comments as to why Secretary Powell decided to expose Iran's new missile system for it's nuclear weapons [which they don't have...sure]:

1. Iran lost a thousand pages of classified files to make nuclear weapons and those documents showed up at the CIA this week.

2. The Iranians have put four scientists on trial this past week for leaking those documents.

3. The British have videotape of a new type of new Iranian warhead that is short and stubby. It is too light to be used for conventional war heads. It can only be used for a nuclear weapons.

This is what prompted Secretary Powell to announce Iran's violation of their agreements.

Also he said there is an underground nuclear bomb factory in little city called Nour, a suburb of Tehran in an area known as Lavizan. The factory has been placed under a new housing development there. There are multiple reports of this.

He recommends a blockade of Iran's oil shipments.

He claims the EU wants us to do the dirty work on this.

Nuclear Shell Game - Wall Street Journal

This is an interesting report. I highly recomment reading the entire report.
We should pull out all the stops to find out if Iran actually has a bomb before we act. The IAEA seems to be itching for this job. In his report to the upcoming board of governors meeting on Iran , Director General Mohamed El-Baradei noted that although the agency had no smoking gun, the agency was "not yet in a position to conclude that there are no undeclared nuclear materials or activities in Iran ." He made it clear why: The agency, he noted, only had the authority to ferret out material discrepancies in declared civilian nuclear facilities; it lacked the authority to snoop for bombs. ...

Another alternative that should be put aside is trying to bomb our way out of the problem set. ... We simply don't know where all of Iran's nuclear activities are. Nor can we target every Iranian nuclear engineer who surely will rebuild whatever might be bombed. ...

If these options don't make sense and waiting on Iran to behave makes even less, what should we do? The simple answer is to start enforcing the rules. ...

[T]he U.S., its partners and the IAEA board of governors need to challenge, as the European Three have not, Iran's outrageous claim that it has an "inalienable right" to come within days of having a large arsenal's worth of nuclear-weapons materials. ...

Khomeini in Dearborn - Front Page Magazine

Khomeini a hero in Dearborn, Michigan?
Last Friday, Muslims in Dearborn, Michigan, held an anti-American, anti-Israel demonstration. Protestors carried a large model of Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque and waved signs bearing slogans such as “US Hands Off Muslim Land.” But the most arresting image was of a Muslim woman carrying a large sign featuring the face of the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. ...

Was the woman who carried Khomeini’s image in the Dearborn demonstration concerned about the human rights of women? Did she know that the Ayatollah himself married a ten-year-old girl when he was twenty-eight? Did she know that Khomeini called marriage to a girl before her first menstrual period “a divine blessing,” and advised the faithful: “Do your best to ensure that your daughters do not see their first blood in your house”?

It is unlikely that the protestor knew that in 1985, Sa’id Raja’i-Khorassani, the Permanent Delegate to the United Nations from the Islamic Republic of Iran, declared, according to Amir Taheri, that “the very concept of human rights was ‘a Judeo-Christian invention’ and inadmissible in Islam. . . . Iran's New Alliance With China Could Cost U.S. Leverage - Washington Post

A few excerpts:

Iran is now China's second-largest source of imported oil. ...

Holding a veto at the U.N. Security Council, China has become the key obstacle to putting international pressure on Iran. During a visit to Tehran this month, Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing signaled that China did not want the Bush administration to press the council to debate Iran's nuclear program. U.S. officials have expressed fear that China's veto power could make Iran more stubborn in the face of U.S. pressure. ...

Last month, the two countries signed a preliminary accord worth $70 billion to $100 billion by which China will purchase Iranian oil and gas and help develop Iran's Yadavaran oil field, near the Iraqi border. Earlier this year, China agreed to buy $20 billion in liquefied natural gas from Iran over a quarter-century.

Iran wants trade to grow even further.

Beijing has also provided Iran with advanced military technology, including missile technology, U.S. officials say. In April, the Bush administration imposed sanctions on Chinese manufacturers of equipment that can be used to develop weapons of mass destruction. ...

Bush's New Start With France - Washington Post

Is there a thaw in US/French relations?
The French, despite their anger at being demonized during the campaign, were also ready to make a new start. The first step was a phone call a week ago from Jacques Chirac to Bush. The French president began by listing areas where Franco-American cooperation was working well ...

On Iraq, the French agreed that the only scenario for progress is a successful Iraqi election in January, and they pledged to encourage Iraq's Sunni Muslims to participate. An early test will come when Iraq's Sunni interim president, Ghazi Yawar, visits Paris this month. Yawar has been skittish about the U.S. assault in the Sunni stronghold of Fallujah, but the French will urge him to remain on board for the elections.

"Our motto is 'inclusivity,' " says a French official. "Beyond Fallujah, it's necessary to convince the Sunnis of the Triangle that they will lose everything if they boycott the election."
