Marze Por Gohar Party reports on "Coalition of Liberation" Meeting

Marze Por Gohar Party, an Iranian opposition group published the following report on the conference on mobilization for regime change, held in Woodland Hills, CA this past Sunday.

On March 13th, 2005, three members of the Marze Por Gohar Party attended a conference in Woodland Hills, California, regarding the overthrow of the Islamic republic. Various groups including the National Iranian Congress, Iranian Freedom Front, SOS Iran and SMCCDI organized this event. . From our estimates there were roughly 150 guests in attendance. The three MPG members in attendance were Chairman Roozbeh Farahanipour, Vice Chair Elham Aryana, and Director of Foreign Policy Babak Namdar.

The main speakers of this conference were, Sharafshahi, Zamanian, Furutan, Pirouznia, Ehsan and Rahnavardi. The various speakers talked about the human rights and political atmosphere in Iran. The primary speakers also discussed ways in which they could cooperate more closely together.

Roozbeh Farahanipour started his speech by congratulating the many groups in their attempt to cooperate more closely together and to strengthen their respective organizations. Roozbeh Farahanipour’s speech dealt with three mains points. He first noted that our country has been occupied for 26 years now and there is a big difference between the Islamic Republic and Iran. He urged the guests that they attribute everything that pertains to Iran, that is positive as Iran or Iranian, and everything that is negative to the Islamic Republic. Second, this regime is the only of its kind, for what other regime openly states that over 85% of its citizens loathe us, yet carries on with its atrocities? Even Saddam, the butcher of Iran, conducted “free” elections in which 99% of the people supposedly voted for him.

The last and most important point is the current situation in regards to the Iranian opposition community. Currently the Iranian opposition consists of two branches, both of which unfortunately unorganized. This branch consists of groups that are trying to cooperate with the Islamic Republic through various means. This branch of the Iranian opposition includes, Nationalists, Monarchists and Leftists. These groups have generally supported “reforms from within” and have aided various legal opposition parties within the Majlis. Currently this faction is supporting the fake referendum strategy, and is busy working with less senior levels of Islamic Republic, including Tabarzadi, the former Revolutionary Guards theoretician Sazegara, and the grandson of Khomenei.

The second branch of the Iranian opposition also includes Nationalists, Monarchists, and Leftists, however this branch of the opposition refuses to work with the Islamic Republic. The groups and parties that make up this branch share many similarities, such as a shared goal and strategy. Unfortunately however, there is a lack of organization preventing from closer cooperation and the realization of the common objective. Organizations must first organize them selves, and when that has happened, a front may begin to be formed against the Islamic Republic. In addition, individuals cannot come into this front; rather only representatives of organizations can represent their respective group in the front.

When the Islamic Republic neutralized threats such as Dr. Bakhtiar, Dr. Arya Manesh and Forouhar, they went after figures that once eliminated, their respective organizations would either cease to exists, or would simply become impotent. It is therefore imperative that organization reign supreme and not a person, because if the organization is based on an individual, once that entity is removed the organization will falter like a collapsed tent. Our motto should be: one enemy, one front, and many trenches. Farahanipour closed out his speech by declaring that there are only three ways to save Iran, organization, organization, and organization.
