UAE Seizes 3 Iranian Boats

Middle East Newsline:
The United Arab Emirates has seized three Iranian boats amid increased military tensions over disputed islands in the Persian Gulf. UAE officials said three Iranian boats were captured by the UAE Coast Guard on May 15. The officials said the Iranian vessels entered UAE waters around three islets claimed by Abu Dhabi.

Earlier, Iran seized a UAE fishing boat near the islands of Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa, located south of Dubai. Officials said five sailors were detained by Iranian authorities on May 8.

"Iranian officials have promised to resolve the matter," UAE Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Abdullah Rashed Al Nuaimi said.
