Tehran Times:
Member of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, Hamid Reza Hajbabaii, condemned here Monday the German Interior Minister Otto Schily for making insulting remarks against the Iranian nation and president-elect.

The German officials themselves realized that such illogical remarks would negatively influence Iran-Germany ties, he said.

The German interior minister’s recent remarks are considered as interference in Iran’s internal affairs, the MP noted.

Hajbabaii urged the foreign ministry to summon the German ambassador and ask the German government to atone for the offensive remarks directed against the Iranian people’s massive and epic turnout in the two rounds of the recent presidential election.

He added that the foreign ministry should stand accountable for its approach toward German official’s recent offensive remarks in the next session of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee.

Mohammad Nabi Rudaki, the deputy chairman of the Majlis committee, took a less harsh criticism of the German government and urged the German officials to be more vigilant and not be influenced by U.S. position toward Iran and keep their independence.

Germany has always been pioneer in establishing all-out ties with Iran and it is better that Germany not to be influenced by the U.S. threatening and illogical allegations against (Iranian) nation and officials since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution,” Rudaki commented.

Iran’s regulates its relations with other countries based on dignity and wisdom and mutual respect and those countries which respect the Iranian nation and their leaders can enjoy good relations with Tehran, he added.

The MP from Shiraz said Germany was among the first countries which congratulated the Iranian president-elect and the remarks by Schily suggest differences within the German ruling government.
The German Minister spoke the truth.
