Minister: "Don't politicize universities" in Iran

Iran's Minister of Science, Research and Technology said he is opposed to political extremism in universities. However, universities should turn into bases for political parties operating outside universities," he said. Asked about his priorities for bringing managerial changes in the Science, Research and Technology Ministry, Zahedi noted that these changes will take place in sectors that do not act in compliance with the new government's policies.

"Some university chancellors resigned during the tenure of former minister of science, research and technology, Jafar Tofiqi.

We have prioritized the appointment of chancellors to these universities," he said. Zahedi noted that university professors and students are capable of making universities more dynamic.
