The C-130 Crash Confidential Report

Hamed Irani, Rooz Online: Special Rooz Report
Forty days after the crash of Iran military’s C-130 transport plane that killed a large number of journalists, the actual reasons for the accident remain a mystery while a published report following the official investigation provide weak reasons for the disaster.

The latest news on this from Rooz reporters is that a confidential report of the crash investigative group cites lack of coordination between the tracking site and the airport control tower at Mehrabad airport. According to the report, the control tower at the airport did not take over the guidance of the plane from the tracking site according to appropriate time guidelines. READ MORE

This report contradicts with the statements of some of the members of the investigative team who have been insisting that the cause of the crash was pilot error. They state that the pilot miscalculated the power and position of the plane which had weakened due to engine number 4 failure. This lower power led him to not be able to maneuver the aircraft away from the residential building that it eventually hit, causing it to crash.

The report seems to be short on addressing the technical problem of the aircraft and the causes that led to it, which it clearly avoids.
