President Ahmadinejad arrives in Syria Damascus

Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting:
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived in Damascus, Syria, on Thursday on a two-day official visit during which he will hold talks with his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad. Ahmadinejad was welcomed at Damascus airport by Syrian Foreign Minister Farouq al-Shara. READ MORE

President al-Assad is to host an official welcome ceremony for his Iranian counterpart at the Presidential Palace within a few hours.

President Ahmadinejad is scheduled to confer with al-Assad on key bilateral, regional and international issues.

Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, Minister of Housing and Urban Development and Head of Iran-Syria Joint Economic Commission Mohammad Saeedi-Kia, Government spokesman Gholam-Hossein Elham and Presidential Advisor Mehdi Chamran are accompanying the president on the visit.
