Chairman of the Expediency Council, Ayatollah Hashemite Rafsanjani, said that the decisions made in London Meeting by the five permanent members of the Security Council (P5) and Germany was unjust and foolish. He added that "perhaps, you (west) could cause some troubles for us, but we will also reciprocate for that and we will cause you troubles in return."

Speaking at a ceremony to commemorate the 27th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution at the holy shrine of Imam Khomeini, Rafsanjani said the western world cannot comprehend the depth of the glory of the Iranian Revolution and Iranian resistance. He noted that at this time Iran is sitting on the launching platform which in near future will bring great changes into the world. READ MORE

Rafsanjani stated that "You (west) imposed many sanctions on us, but we were not defeated and you saw that we came out of that situation triumphantly."

Analyst Comment: In the past, the Iranian authorities on the critical issues have mostly miscalculated the United States and other western powers decisions. On December 19, 2002 right before Iraq war, Rafsanjani said “If Americans dare to land in Iraq, they will be dragged in a quagmire because Americans have no experience in ground battle.”

What did Rafsanjani mean by saying that at this time Iran is sitting on the launching platform which in near future will bring great changes into the world?

Could it be said that through instigation of the people in the region and around the world by the Iranian religious authorities we could witness mass up rising in the Muslim countries. The Iranian authorities have always said that Iran is carrying the flag of the Islamic resistance movement in the world. Especially, now that the Iranian authorities believe so far they have won in Palestine (Hamas won in the recent election) and Iraq (The Shiite in the recent election have won most of the seats in the parliament).
