US Attack on Iran from Azerbaijan Territory Impossible — President

Azerbaijan will not allow the U.S. to launch military attacks on Iran from the country’s territory, Azeri president told Iran envoy Afshar Soleymani at their joint press conference on Monday. READ MORE

President Ilham Aliyev assured Soleymani that Azerbaijan would not allow to use its territory for attacks on Iran, Soleymani was quoted by IRNA agency as saying.

The envoy also ruled out the actual possibility of U.S. launching military action against Iran.

“Even if the U.S. decide to attack Iran, not a single state in the region, not even the Western countries and the UN will support Washington,” he said.

“Iran is not Iraq. The U.S. should be thinking about getting out of the mess it made in Iraq, and about solving its problems in Afghanistan,” Soleymani added.

Iran ended all voluntary cooperation with the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency Sunday, saying it would start uranium enrichment and bar surprise inspections of its facilities after being reported to the Security Council over fears it is seeking an atomic bomb.

However, the Islamic republic left the door open for further negotiations over its nuclear program and, in an apparent softening of its position, said it was willing to discuss Moscow’s proposal to shift large-scale enrichment operations to Russian territory in an effort to allay suspicions.
