Iran says Britain’s Jack Straw talking “utter nonsense”

Iran described on Wednesday recent comments by British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw against its nuclear activities as “utter nonsense, the official state news agency reported.

I read several times the text of the speech that was prepared for Mr. Straw and saw no logical correlation between his lines of argument”, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi told reporters in Tehran.

On Monday, Straw said in London that Tehran was heading in the wrong direction over its suspected nuclear weapons program.

“Iran is going in the wrong direction, chances are being squandered, Iran and the Iranian people deserve better”, the British Foreign Secretary said, adding that Tehran had to build confidence by suspending its sensitive nuclear work and cooperating with the International Atomic Energy Agency.

“A bunch of utter nonsense had been prepared and I am sorry that a prominent diplomat mentioned them without first reading them”, Asefi said.

Apparently, this man’s head has become jammed and he has started to talk gibberish. We should be prepared to hear these kinds of speeches from now on”, he added. READ MORE

Asked whether the Iranian Foreign Ministry would summon the British ambassador in Tehran to hear an official protest, Asefi said,Since these comments were gibberish and have no logic, there is not much point in summoning the ambassador”.
