Safavi: Security of the world’s energy is depended on the security of Persian Gulf and Iran.

Today, Mehr News Agency reported that the Supreme Commandant of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, said that the security of the world’s energy is depended on the security of Persian Gulf and Iran. He added that for securing Iran, we have mobilized all our defensive power equipments. Safavi noted that Persian Gulf and Russia contains 90% of the world’s gas. He went on to say that We follow our leader Ayatollah Khamenei and world must encounter Iran’s nuclear activities with right attitude.” READ MORE

Analyst Comment: On June 4, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that if the U.S. makes a wrong move against Iran, energy flow in the region will be definitely put at serious risk. He added that the U.S. can never maintain security for the flow of energy in the region. We are committed to our ideals and national interests and if anyone threatens our national interests it will face the Iranian nations’ wrath.

Furthermore, today Fars News Agency reported that Iran’s Ministry of oil, Director General for oil and gas of Caspian region, Mahmud Haqani, said during last 20 years, amounts of investments in hydrocarbons production was insufficient compared to demand for them. Haqani said for this reason China, Japan, India and Europe are in a heavy need in hydrocarbons. "This is while the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline will help bringing Azeri oil to Mediterranean Sea and partially satisfy Europeans' needs." Haqani stated, "Iranian route is the best for oil transportation eastward," adding, "Besids, Iran is one of the world's leaders on oil and gas reserves."
