Iran, China keen to expand economic cooperation

Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Davoud Danesh-Jaafari and his Chinese counterpart in a meeting on Sunday examined ways of bolstering economic collaboration. READ MORE

According to a report released by the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance, during the meeting, both sides urged that given the 10-million-dollar target predicted for trade exchange between the two countries in 2006, the current traditional cooperation trend in the economic sector should be modernized and diversified.

Besides both ministers discussed the issue of gas transfer from Iran to China as well as sale of LNG to the country.

The report added that in a meeting with the Director of Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Ahmad Mohammad-Ali, Danesh-Jaafari expressed satisfaction with the expansion of Iran-IDB ties and called for further technical and financial assistance to Iran's private and cooperative sectors.

Turning to the three-year cooperation agreement expected to be drawn up, the minister reiterated the need for broader collaboration between Iran and IDB.
