Iran's Leader appoints 6 new army commanders

Iran's Supreme Leader and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei appointed six commanders to new posts in a series of replacements in the hierarchy of Army of the Islamic Republic. READ MORE

Ayatollah Khamenei said in his decrees to the commanders that the replacements are being made as per a proposal made by General Commander of the Army Major General Ataollah Salehi, according to IRNA.

The Supreme Leader appointed Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani as head of Strategic Defense Research Center, Brigadier General Abdolali Pourshasb
as deputy commander of General Headquarters of the Armed Forces for inspection affairs.

The commander-in-chief of the armed forces also appointed Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Qoraei Ashtiani to the post of deputy General
Commander of the Army, Brigadier General Abdolrahim Mousavi to the post of chief of Joint Staffs of the Army, Brigadier General Mohammad
Hossein Dadrass as Commander of the Ground Forces and Rear-Admiral Sajjad Kouchaki Badelani as Commander of the Navy.

The Supreme Leader appreciated services of the predecessors in his decree to the new commanders.

Ayatollah Khamenei appreciated services of Brigadier General Habib Baqaei, Brigadier General Nasser Mohammadi-far and Rear-Admiral Abbas
Mohtaj and said that the Navy made admirable achievements under former commander Rear-Admiral Mohtaj.
