According to reports from regime-run news agency, ILNA, the Executive Director of the Justice Department of the regime in the province of Fars, in describing the reason for the fire, said: "At two in the morning, prisoners from wards 10 and 11 had pre-planned to set fire to their blankets and then to rush out of their wards due to excess smoke that filled the specific area. After they stepped out into the open air, they set fire to the prison commissary and throwing rocks, injured some of the guards. The Assurance Assembly for the Province of Fars convened at 6 AM in the Adelabad Prison and the decision to look into the reason that lead to this incident. This assembly also reiterated the importance of moving the prisoners responsible, out of town. The guards only shot in the air, of course. It's natural that having so many defendants as well as criminals in custody that there would be unrest; that’s enough cause for prison authorities’ anxiety and apprehension from time to time."

On Sunday, Oct. 16th the families of the prisoners gathered, demanding to know about their loved ones' conditions.
