1000 workers from the Kerman coal mines go on strike

Iran Press News: Translation by Banafsheh Zand-Bonazzi.
On Saturday, March 11th, in an interview with ILNA's workers group reporter, Abbas Karbakhsh, representatives of the Kerman coal miners said: "1000 workers from the Kerman's HAMKAR Coal mines started their protests more than a week ago; they are protesting their salary situation, the lack of benefits and the fact that contract workers have no legal rights or job safety. Allegedly, the political and security deputy of the governor of Kerman is slated to meet with the striking workers in order to address their grievances. Contract workers are paid $10 a month which is the lowest pay possible for workers and on top of that, they have no right to complain."
