Foreign Ministry Protests to US Interest Section in Tehran

Iranian Foreign Ministry on Monday lodged a protest with the US Interest Section, Swiss Embassy in Tehran, against anti-Iran statements by US President George W Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Forwarding a letter of protest to the Swiss Embassy, Iranian Foreign Ministry termed those statements as 'provocative and interference in Iran's internal affairs'. READ MORE

Iranian Foreign Ministry recalled the need that the US is obliged as per Convention 1969 on Abidance to the undertakings and legal bindings stipulated by the United Nations Charter to respect national sovereignty of Iran.

The letter also referred to earmarking dlrs 75 million by the US administration for activities in Iran as gross violation of US undertaking envisaged in the Algiers Accord not to become involved in Iranian internal affairs directly or indirectly.

The Foreign Ministry said that the Islamic Republic of Iran reserves the right to take US violation of its undertaking as per articles 16 and 17 to international arbitration as laid down in the Algiers Accord.

The US president and secretary of state have announced the allocation of dlrs 75 million to be spent in Iran on what they called 'democratization'.
