Metro-murderer Mullah gets 3 years in prison

Iran Press News: Translation by Banafsheh Zand-Bonazzi.
The special clerical court of the Islamic regime in a show trial sentenced a Mullah who recently shot and killed a young man, in the back, in the Karadj metro (suburb of Tehran) to only 3 years in prison.

The transcript of the special clerical court of the IRI, printed by the regime-run news agency, FARS, reads as follows: "In the case of the charges against Asgar N., in view of the investigative reports sent via the Karadj security forces, comments made by the deceased, statement by the medical examiner and ballistics specialist, crime scene and forensics investigators, clearly points to the defendant as guilty. However regarding this matter certain issues must be proven. First, there is the issue of a motive as an act of killing without the intent to kill. It appears that none of the above in this case, is applicable. Though chasing the deceased with a loaded weapon is reckless and though shooting someone in the back is also abhorrent as well as excessive and goes against the security and disciplinary rules of conduct, it is still true that shooting someone in the back or arm area should not be fatal. Given all this one also has to analyze the reason for the defendant pulling the trigger and since obtaining that information from the defendant is difficult, because he will not tell us and we cannot charge him to do so either, it means that we cannot know if the crimes were intentional or not. Therefore the defendant will pay the equal amount of an Muslim man to the deceased's family for 2 years from the date of the occurrence of the crime and will be incarcerated for 3 years for carelessness and irresponsible behavior."

In a country where people like Akbar Ganji are incarcerated for 6 years for writing a book and women get stoned to death for adultery, a Mullah gets 3 years for taking a life; indeed Islamic justice is selective.
