Concocted charges against Kurdish activists and protestors
Iran Press News: Translation by Banafsheh Zand-Bonazzz
The Islamic regime has falsified charges against detainees of recent clashes in Kurdistan by District Attorney of Province and other elements of the regimeAn earlier Iran Press News report stated:
Based on reports from the regime-run news agency, FARS, the District Attorney of the province of Kurdistan has said: "At the moment there are only 15 people being detained and the arraignment of several of these is already being prepared by the court. The real culprits behind the unrest and the clashes who have created a sense of danger in this province are Ms.Roya Tolouii, Mr. Saeed Saa'edi and Ejlaal Qavami; these people have previous arrest records and their involvement in these recent disturbances are clear... some even had guns."
When asked by the news agency reporter "What do you say about the number of journalists who were also arrested (?) ", the District Attorney replied: "This is not so. For example Ms. Roya Tolouii has a PhD in Lab Technology and we have arrested her for forging a government document... she's no journalist and has nothing to do with the press. Tolouii had fake permits for the piece of land she was planning on purchasing in the town of Baaneh for a new Laboratory; we caught her, therefore specifically where she's concerned, one cannot claim she is a journalist (!) Though I must say that local Kurdish journalists also played a major part in fanning the flames of unrest as well. The clashes originated in Kurdistan, Western Azerbaijan and Mahaabaad and it was dragged into this province. The first series of clashes upset at least 30 people in Sanandadj who gathered in front of our governors' office and demanded that these criminal' elements to be immediately prosecuted... 'course there were many people across the province who wanted this as well and they were not even related to the regime."
Dr. Roya Tolouii, a champion of the rights of Iran's Kurdish Minority and of women was originally arrested in her home in Sanandaj on August 2. She is reported to be facing charges of “disturbing the peace“ and “acting against national security.”
