Annan: No change in Iran's visit programme

Islamic Republic NewsAgency:
UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said on Thursday in spite of some requests from US congressmen to cancel his visit to Iran, he will make the pre-scheduled trip.

US Congressman Tom Lantos along with some of his colleagues have asked Annan to cancel his trip to Iran in protest to recent remarks by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad against the Zionist regime of Israel.

In a brief encounter with reporters on Thursday evening in New York, Annan confirmed that he has received a letter from Lantos, but said "Obviously, we must have interactions with nations and governments".

He added, "My visit to Iran has been finalized and will be declared shortly."
