Intensification of pressure on University Students

The seminar on democracy and daily life that was organized by the association of social sciences faculty of school of Social Sciences of Tehran University has been cancelled due to the opposition to the head of the College.

Dr. Jamshidian, the dean of Tehran University, canceled this event, which was designed to include a number of university professors, intellectuals and political activists.

Dr. Jamshidian who in recent days met with members of the students of school of social sciences clarified that the actual reason for the cancellation was pressure and threats from the ministry of intelligence and security, the ministry of Science and the revolutionary guards. READ MORE

As of Wednesday, May 10th, the student’s entrance to the university was being controlled and the disciplinary guards had appeared on the university grounds.

Students broke through the human wall that had been created by the disciplinary guards in order to shield access to the university and entered the campus.

It is worth mentioning that all social sciences courses of the faculty of Tehran University were cancelled as a result.
