The Dawn quoted Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz's adviser on finance and revenue Dr. Salman Shah as saying that Pakistan will look at laws that "if the in pipeline from Iran violated any US law, US would look at those laws."

He said that that apart from the Iranian option, Pakistan was also looking at the possibility of constructing a pipeline from Turkmenistan or Qatar and importing liquid natural gas from Qatar to meet its energy needs.

"If Washington wants Pakistan to give up the pipeline and instead go for a more expensive option, it will be difficult for us to do so. But we will look at the relevant US law and decide," the paper quoted him as saying.

"The proposed pipeline involves an investment of four billion to five billion dollars. That's why we have to carefully study every aspect of this law before taking any decision," he added.
