Installation of Loud Speakers in streets of Tehran for "Crisis Management"

The Director of Tehran's traffic control Department has plans for installing loud speakers and cameras by the March 2006 in 140 neighborhoods throughout Tehran. A spokesman from the Tehran's Mayor's office said: "This plan is specifically in order to broadcast the Azan which is the call to prayers (5 times a day), it is also meant to broadcast directives to the populace and photograph them during times of escalation of conflict in order to contain resulting hostilities."

Fars, another of the regime's many news agencies reported that the public relations spokesman of the Tehran's mayor's office continued: "The first stages of this plan will be complete by mid-October where 10 neighborhoods in Tehran will be equipped with fiber-optic cameras and P.A. loud-speaker systems that will automatically on an alarm system for the calls to prayer. The system is also equipped with a Global Positioning System.
