Student Leader Manouchehr Mohammadis' mother protests her son's incarceration

Iran Press News: an English translation
Student Leader/political prisoner Manouchehr Mohammadi who along with his brother Akbar have been detained now for the last 6 years, like Akbar Ganji, have been on a hunger strike inside Evin prison in Tehran.

Their ailing mother (pictured) who suffers from heart disease, had been arrested last week, following a massive demonstration [demanding the unconditional release of all political prisoners] in front of Tehran University. On Wednesday, Mrs. Mohammadi continued her protest, surrounded by a group of women freedom-fighters. The regime's disciplinary and secret service forces who began threatening and beating up on the women who had gathered, met with resistance by the protestors.

On Thursday, Aug. 4th Mrs. Mohammadi arrived early in the morning at Evin prison's visiting room; after 4 hours of waiting, she was finally informed that her son's condition (due to the hunger strike) has detriorated so much so that he would have had to be transported to the visiting area on a gurney. Mrs. Mohammadi who is extremely worried about her son's condition, blamed his son's present condition on the head of the judiciary, Mullah Shahroudi.
The Mohammadi brothers deserve our respect and support. The U.S. government needs to voice their concern for him.
