Dezfool Sugar factory workers protest in Tehran

Iran Press News: Translation by Banafsheh Zand-Bonazzzi
The neglected workers of the Dezfool sugar factory (Khuzestan Province) gathered in Tehran on Sunday, Aug. 3rd and will also gather on Monday, Aug. 4th to protest the mismanagement and dereliction of the authorities of said factory.

According to ILNA news agency, the workers' representative said: "In spite of widespread complaint by the workers of the factory, and the management's ongoing neglect, we have been forced to take action by gathering in Tehran so that perhaps those 'Capital-dwellers', especially Ahmadinejad can substantiate his claims and settle the workers' problems."

The management of the Dezfool sugar factory owes $500 million backpay to the workers, farmers' claims, insurances and unemployment.
