Iran Says It Has No Intention of Attacking Israel

Iran says it stands by its U.N. commitments not to use violence against another country, amid international criticism over the Iranian president's call for Israel's destruction.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad caused an international outcry on Wednesday by saying Israel should be "wiped off the map." He stood by those comments Friday during massive anti-Israeli protests in Tehran.

Palestinian chief negotiator Saeb Erekat said Palestinians have recognized Israel's right to exist. He said what the international community should be discussing is adding a Palestinian state to the map, not wiping Israel from it.

Friday, the U.N. Security Council condemned the Iranian president's remarks.
