Iran’s Interior Ministry appointed the country’s former Vice Naval Chief as the new governor of Dalijan, central Iran, state-run media reported on Tuesday.

Mohammad Hossein Shafiee who was given the new government post retired last month from his military command.

The appointment comes as another veteran commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) was appointed as the provincial governor of Qom, central Iran.

Abbas Mohtaj, a former IRGC and Navy commander, was given the government post by the Interior Ministry.

Reports indicate that the two military commanders have brought with them colleagues from the Armed Forces to administer their governorship’s various divisions.
