In an interview on CNN, Villepin said that it was in the interest of both Iran and the international community that the government in Tehran accepts the offer by France, Great Britain and Germany of trade and other incentives in exchange for it abandoning its fuel cycle.

He added that if Iran continued with its uranium enrichment, it would be taken before the United Nations Security Council, but would not give any specific details about any sanctions that may be taken against Iran in the future.
