During the rally, They chanted slogans demanding for enforcement of the labor law, IRNA reported.

"We staged the rally to protest disregard for workers' rights. The temporary contract law has been enacted to authorize dismissal of workers with 28 year long record of service," said a worker Hadi Rezazadeh.

The temporary contract law has been studied by the Majlis Expert Commission and the majority of the lawmakers agree the law should be abolished, MP Hossein Eslami told the rally.

MP Alireza Mahjoub, who is workers' representative to the Majlis, told the workers that the temporary contracts exploited workers and trampled upon their rights.

He assured the workers that he would support their efforts, expressing hope that the Majlis will do its utmost to abolish the temporary contract law at earliest possible time.

The MP, earlier today, told the Majlis session that some 50 lawmakers have signed a petition to improve the provisions of temporary labor contracts which will be submitted to the Majlis Social Commission soon.
