GOP Jews Back Santorum's Iran Resolution

NewsMax:
The Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) thanks U.S. Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA), Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, for introducing a bipartisan resolution, S. Res. 337, which condemned the recent disparaging and destructive statements made toward Israel and all Jewish people by Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. READ MORE

The resolution passed by unanimous consent on Friday with 22 cosponsors and active RJC support.

Iran's president recently announced that Israel should be "wiped off the map' and that the Holocaust was a "myth." The Senate resolution demanded an apology for these outrageous statements.

"The RJC thanks Senator Santorum for his leadership in denouncing the offensive statements made by President Ahmadinejad, and for calling attention to Iran's support for terrorist organizations and its nuclear ambitions," said RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks.

"These ridiculous statements," Senator Santorum said, "are just another piece of evidence that the Government of Iran harbors deep hatred for the United States, Israel and all Jewish people."

Sen. Santorum added, "The current Government of Iran is among the most dangerous governments in the world. We must continue to call attention to Iran's reckless and provocative behavior so that the international community can succeed in halting Iran's nuclear ambitions."

The RJC also thanks Congressman Tom Cole (R-OK) for sponsoring a companion House Resolution, H. Res. 601, which has almost 70 cosponsors.

The Republican Jewish Coalition thanks Senator Santorum for his unwavering friendship to the Jewish community. Earlier this year the Senator introduced S. 333, the Iran Freedom and Support Act of 2005, which would help limit Iran's access to revenue and foreign investment. The RJC strongly supports S. 333 and urges the Senate to pass it.
