Evin prisoners defy the regime

Tens of inmates, held at the infamous Evin Political jail, defied the Islamic regime, by breaking chairs and beds and by setting then on fire in order to commemorate the banned "Tchahr-Shanbe Soori" (Fire Fiest). READ MORE

The inmates chose to resort to such an expressive way, following the refusal of the authorities to grant them access to the prison's outdoor space for celebrating what was told to them as being "pagan".

Authorities have transferred several of them to solitary confinement and others have been warned to expect harsher disciplinary measures.
