Iran Freedom Foundation Launches Commercial with Tim Watkins

Washington, D.C. – The Iran Freedom Foundation (IFF), a non-profit educational organization, has announced the launch of a television commercial from filmmaker Tim Watkins.

The commercial, which will appear on 20 television stations nationwide beginning April 18th, 2005, calls attention to the threat that a nuclear-armed Iran poses to democratic societies.

The mullahs of Iran are more connected and dangerous than you know,” said Watkins, producer of the box-office breaking documentary, In the Face of Evil: Reagan’s War in Word and Deed, (www.inthefaceofevil.com) which examined humankind’s struggle with good and evil within the philosophical framework of fascism and the Cold War.

This is a continuation of a pilgrimage in the fight between good versus evil,” Watkins said discussing his latest work. The same style of totalitarian oppression that existed under communism is now rearing its head in Iran.

Watkins’ 30-second commercial highlights the potential consequences of a nuclear-armed Iran, a theme expounded upon in a new book by IFF Spokesperson Jerome Corsi entitled Atomic Iran: How the Terrorist Regime Bought the Bomb and American Politicians. Corsi, a New York Times bestselling author, points to evidence suggesting that if the current leaders in Iran were to obtain nuclear technology, they would abuse it.

Iran, which has been an Islamic Republic since the Revolution of 1979, has come under recent international scrutiny over the nature of its nuclear enrichment program, which the U.S. has long-alleged is a cover for nuclear weapons production. The consequences are severe: if the Islamic Republic acquires nuclear weapons, it will be able to further isolate Iranian citizens in an attempt to silence their calls for freedom.

Over 70 percent of Iranians are under the age of 30 and support democratic reform in the Islamic theocracy, but they have very few outlets to express their opinions. The IFF aims to give the Iranian people a voice by bridging communication gaps between the people of Iran and the people of America.

The IFF was established by American and Iranian scholars, professionals, philanthropists and human rights advocates who support Iranian’s fight for freedom. The IFF believes that as Iran’s economic and social situation continues to deteriorate, support by the international community for peaceful democratic efforts there and in the region is crucial.
