Iran Press News: Translation by Banafsheh Zand-Bonazzzi

Political prisoners, Behrooz Javid-Tehrani, Bina Darab-Zand and Hodjat Zamani who have been on hunger strike for a month, were threatened by the Islamic Republic's judiciary.

Their hunger strike has met with a violent reaction from the Islamic judiciary, so much so that when the World Health Organization visited the prisons for inspections, the prisoners were whisked away by the regime's agents and placed under lock down, hidden away from the eyes of the W.H.O.'s inspectors. The Islamic regime's claim for such an act was that these types of actions are injurious to the regime.

Most recent the Islamic judiciary has threatened the above-named prisoners with transferral to prisons in the southern most cities of Iran. On Thursday, September 22nd, 50-year-old activist, Arjang Davoudi who had participated in the last hunger strike was transferred to Boraazjaan prison in Bandar-Abbas. The families of the political prisoners have no news of their loved-ones during the last 3 days and have been very worried; they have contacted various judiciary and prison authorities for updates, to no avail. On Saturday, Sept. 24th, one of the political prisoners contacted his family to explain that based on orders from Ali Mohammadi, the deputy warden of Rejaiishahr prison, the prisoners' phone privileges have been cut back from two, to one monitored phone call a day.

According to one of the members of the central branch of the Committee for the defense of Political Prisoners who was following the hunger strikers case closely: "There are rumors circulating about a list of political prisoners who are meant to be transferred; this rumor has been spread by the ‘ward attorney’ through the prison grapevine who has said that this is indicative of a new era of pressure on political prisoners and their families."

Mr. Faqeehee, the attorney representing several of the political prisoners has called these threats, illegal.
