US Anti-war Activists Arrive in Iran

Prominant American anti-war university professors, holding up the "olive Branch" arrived in Tehran to negotiate with their Iranian peers, Fars News Agency said on Tuesday. A 14-strong delegation from nine American universities and members of US anti-war group headed by Dr. James Jennings, a university professor and Middle East affairs expert landed in Iran carrying "a message of peace", concurrent with 9/11 US attacks. The group go at odd with the US President George W. Bush stand on Iran, Iraq and Syria, and believe that war is not a proper solution to remove the troubles.

In 2003, the anti-war campaigners had signed a petition with 33,000 signatures by American academic association, negating US-led coalision war on Iraq ahead of the invasion.

The group also travelled to Iraq to form a human shield in protest to George Bush policies.

A strict opponent to clash of civilizations, the academic board believe that Tehran-Washington stumbling blocks can be removed throuth negotiations between academic and scientific features.

James Jenning, head of the delegation, said Pentagon was planning to attack Iran and Syria, while holding the United States responsible for the unrest in south Iranian provicial city of Ahwaz.

The delegation will head to Damascus after meeting with Iranian university professors.

The head of the delegation had dispatched three medical teams to Iran after a strong earthquake hit southeast Iranian city of Bam in 2003 in Kerman province and northern Iran flash floods.
