Imprisoned bloggers moved to the criminal ward

Blogger Mojtaba Saminejad, twenty-five year old university student and publisher of the blog "Man na Manam" (a famous quote from a poem by Molana Jalaledin Rumi) was arrested in February 2005 for the second time - only several days after his release from prison. The revolutionary court sentenced to 10 years and 2 months; he is being detained in ward 2 of the QEZEL-HESAAR prison in the Tehran suburb of Karadj. He has however now been transferred to ward 30 where 30 Afghanis who have all been charged with murder, are also being detained. READ MORE

The prison authorities claim that the reason for his transference to this dangerous ward is due to Saminejad’s “rebelliousness and that the decision was made to move him after he complained about guards violating treatment of him and other political prisoners. Saminejad’s complained about the unsanitary conditions and stressed that his life is in constant danger.

The other blogger also being subjected to the very same prison conditions is Afsheen Zaareii.
