Students protest a professor’s dismissal

Iran Press News: Translation by Banafsheh Zand-Bonazzi
The students of the Shiraz school of medicine have gathered to protest the dismissal of one of their professors. One of the leaders of the protesting students, in an interview with the regime-run news agency, ILNA, said: “A teaching hospital in Shiraz has discharged one of the professors of the Pediatrics ward and this is the reason for the protest. These teaching hospitals operate on the medical student pool; unfortunately however these hospitals have major problems. We began this protest on Friday, Nov. 12th and we will not retreat till we have the desired outcome. Forty eight students have joined our protest and gone on strike; so far however, our efforts have met with the apathy of the hospital’s authorities.”
