Elham Afroutan, 19-year-old journalists father claims that she is not in fact dead

Elham Afroutan's father told the Committee for the Defense of Political Prisoners that his daughter has not committed suicide and that she has in fact called home as late as Friday, Feb. 17th. She is said to be being held at Nesvon Ward of the Evin Prison in Tehran; her father claims that he knows nothing about her having been tortured. Afroutan's father expressed concern and annoyance at the media sources that wrote about his daughter’s circumstances and possible death. However, it is important to mention that the news of Afroutans alleged suicide was announced by the regimes own security sources.
