Today, Mehr News Agency reported that in the opening session of the third international conference on Palestine, Ahmadinejad said that the Zionist regime is a dried rotten tree which will fall by one storm. He added that none of world nations and Islamic countries of the region can feel secure from the threats of the Zionist regime. Ahmadinejad noted that the existence of the Zionist regime is tantamount to imposition of an unending and unrestrained threat. He went on to say that "The people of Palestine are at the very core of such a threat. They have not been able to spend a day with peace of mind for the past sixty years," he told the participants in the conference. Three generations of sons and daughters of Palestinians have lived and are presently living under these circumstances. The peoples of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and the entire Middle East are essentially under similar situation, said the president. READ MORE

In the same conference, Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported that the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned the US to avoid inflaming the sensitive region of the Middle East and the Persian Gulf through its naivety. He added that "The connected chain of US plots against Iran, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon will never succeed."

Elsewhere, Fars News Agency reported that Tehran's interim Friday Prayer Leader Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati warned that the enemies must know Iran is not another Iraq or Afghanistan; it would stand against its enemies with its true faith, wise leadership and maximum military might. He added that "the Iraqi people would soon foil the foul intentions of the US, by working hand in hand with their religious authorities and popularly elected politicians."

Furthermore, Fars reported that the Commander-in-Chief of the Iran Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC) major general Yahya Rahim Safavi said that IRGC is ready to respond to any aggression by the US and the Zionist regime. He said the American know well than anyone else that their forces are very sustainable in Persian Gulf and Iraq. Safavi said right now the Middle East is like a barrel of explosive which any attack by US on Iran will explode.

Analyst Comment: It seems that the Iranian authorities won’t back down from any of their position such as annihilation of Israel, abandoning their unclear activities, and interfering in the region from Afghanistan, Iraq to Lebanon. One mistake which western countries officials made was that they thought Ayatollah Khamenei is like Ayatollah Khomeini ,who on 1989 said:” he forced himself to drink the glass of poison for peace to end Iran-Iraq war”, and will force himself to drink the glass of poison for peace to end and stop Iran’s nuclear conflict with west. On April 9, the Commander-in-chief of the Iranian Armed Forces, Seyyed Hasan Firouz-Abadi, said that "we are enjoying such high military capabilities that any aggression to this country is a foolish act." He added that "Iran is enjoying such advanced equipments that their names do not even ring the bell to our enemies' ears."
