Blair Rejects Iranian Idea for Holocaust Probe

British Prime Minister Tony Blair sees no need for an inquiry into the Holocaust, as proposed by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Blair’s spokesman said on Friday. On an official visit to Shanghai, the Iranian leader said ”impartial and independent groups” ought to be tasked with investigating Nazi Germany’s mass murder of six million Jews in Europe during World War II. In Brussels, Blair’s spokesman said: “The prime minister does not believe ther is any need for an inquiry into the Holocaust. The grim reality is all too there for people to see.”

He declined to say whether Ahmadinejad’s remarks might upset an international initiative to encourage the Islamic republic into putting the brakes on its controversial nuclear programme.
