Iranian Union Leader Released On Bail

Radio Free Europe:
A prominent leader of Iran's workers movement was released today from jail on bail after having spent seven months in prison. The Iranian Labor News Agency (ILNA) reports that Mansoor Osanloo, the president of the Syndicate of Workers of the Tehran Bus Company, was freed after paying a bail of 1.5 billion rials (over 150,000 dollars).

The charges brought against Osanloo are unclear.

The union leader reportedly helped organize demonstrations in December 2005 to demand better working conditions for Tehran bus drivers.

Several human rights groups had expressed concern over his fate and called on authorities to release him.
