Ayatollah Jannati: "Europeans are duplicitous and conmen"

Iran Press News: an English translation
Ayatollah Jannati, the Director of the Guardian Council, touched upon the nuclear "crisis" from his pulpit at the Tehran Friday prayers , saying: "We have said, from the very beginning of the discussions with the Europeans that they're duplicitous and conmen. It was evident from the outset that these talks with these 3 Europeans would not lead anywhere and if the Islamic Republic went along with it, it's so that they don't say that we didn't make an effort and that we don't have important points to make." He reiterated that the time for discussion is over and continued: "It is now time for decision-making and Mr. Khatami made the pivotal point in factually announcing that first activities in the Esfahan plant and then Natanz will recommence."

The Director of the regimes' Guardian Council addressing Europe and the U.S. declared: "No matter what bribe you think you can offer the Islamic Republic, we will not cease and desist from attaining something that is our right to have; I must assert that the government and the people in no way, shape or form will withdraw from acquiring what is rightfully theirs. The problem is that Europeans and Americans don't appreciate us and these actions will not serve them. They should have understood from our elections who 'our people' are and what they want. With all of the conspiracies organized by the White House, in order to get people to boycott the vote [in the recent "elections" in Iran], 'the people' didn't listen to them and showed widespread unity...may their [the White House] eyes go blind."

He went on in an ardent tone: "The Islamic Republic has made it's decision and is willing to pay the price; when Europeans and Americans threaten us, they will end up paying for whatever action they take." He continued: "The Lord has given everyone a brain, may he give the Europeans and Americans brains too so that they can recognize what is in their best interest."
