Another Execution in Iran

Agence France Press:
A 22-year-old Iranian man convicted of rape has been publicly hanged in the southern province of Fars, the Etemad newspaper said Tuesday.

The report said he had been sentenced to death in 2000, suggesting he was under the age of 18 when the crime was committed.

The man was only identified as a resident of a village named Doust Iran Nodan, and the report said he was hanged Monday.

The hanging brought to at least 57 the number of executions carried out in Iran so far this year, according to an AFP tally based on press and witness reports.

In 2004 at least 159 people were executed in the Islamic republic, the highest rate in the world after China, according to Amnesty International.

SMCCDI Note: The Islamic republic regime uses often false labels, such as, Hooligan, Murderer, rapist, Spy or Drug trafficker in order to qualify its armed opponents. Such policy helps its European and Asian partners in order to justify, vis a vis their public opinion, the continuation of business relations with a barbarian and repressive regime.
