Iran is calling an international resolution on its nuclear program politically motivated and illegal, but does not rule out future negotiations with the West. The IAEA resolution passed Saturday in Vienna accuses Tehran of violating the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty by failing to comply with international nuclear safeguard agreements.
The resolution leaves open the possibility of referring Tehran to the U.N. Security Council for possible sanctions if it fails to cooperate fully with IAEA inspectors.
Washington accuses Tehran of using its ongoing nuclear program as a cover for efforts to develop an atomic weapon. Tehran says its program is aimed at developing electricity.
