Khatami was honorably retired

According to reports from various regime-run media outlets, Mohammad Khatami, the ex-president of the Islamic republic was honorably retired. Khatami himself welcomed the opportunity for retirement from public office, with 28 years and 10 months of professional experience to his name.

Mohammad Atryanfar, a member of the Central Assembly of the "Custodians of Progress" Party, compared Khatami in his canonical beliefs and style of leadership to Khomeini during a commemoration ceremony.
